Word of South is thrilled to announce Violent Femmes with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra as the Friday night headliner for our 2025 festival!

Violent Femmes started making music in 1981 and released what would become their timeless debut album in 1983. Fast forward 40 years and they are visiting select cities performing their iconic pieces with full symphony orchestras. Violent Femmes’ groundbreaking blend of folk, punk, and alternative rock has earned them a place in musical history since their formation in the early 1980s. Their self-titled debut album, featuring iconic tracks such as “Blister in the Sun,” “Kiss Off,” “Add It Up,” and “Gone Daddy Gone,” went platinum and remains a cultural touchstone to this day.

All Word of South festival events and shows are free, with the exception of Violent Femmes with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra performance on Friday, April 4, 2025. You do not need a ticket to attend any Word of South event April 5-6, 2025.
