P-Funk

Danny Bedrosian featuring George Clinton and members of P-Funk

Daniel Bedrosian has been the keyboardist for George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic for the past twenty-one years, making him the longest tenured keyboard player in the band’s history. He has been the band’s music director for several years as well. This has led Bedrosian to devise a 70th anniversary concert featuring Clinton and a small select cadre of important P-Funk band members. In addition to performing with Clinton and company, he has worked or performed with musical icons such as Snoop Dogg, Chuck D and Flavor Flav, Ice Cube, Shavo Odadjian from System of a Down, Kendrick Lamar, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Erykah Badu, Queen Latifah, Mumford & Sons, RZA, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Sheila E, Wu-Tang Clan, Questlove and The Roots, MonoNeon, Cory Henry, Robert Glasper, Drake, and many more. Bedrosian is the author of the Authorized P-Funk Song Reference: Official Canon of Parliament-Funkadelic 1956-2023.

Joining Bedrosian on this 70th anniversary curated P-Funk homage, is none other than Dr. Funkenstein himself, Mr. George Clinton. Clinton has been the leader, lead singer, producer, frontman, and all-around conceptualist for the Parliament Funkadelic group and many of its many satellites for 70 years. Many of the albums he released, especially in the ’70s and ’80s, reached platinum and gold status. Additionally, Clinton and Company can claim the feat of being the most sampled group of all time, having a massive influence not just on Hip Hop, but on modern Rock, Pop, Dance, R&B, Jazz, Metal, World music and other genres, over the past several decades. Clinton’s progressive, genre-bending, decades-spanning music, earned the group induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a lifetime achievement Grammy, and earned Clinton a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Along with Bedrosian and Clinton, several fellow bandmates from P-Funk will be featured in this special onetime curated concert: Drummer Benjamin Cowan, Bassist/Vocalist Lige Curry, Guitarist/Vocalist Kevin Oliver, and Vocalist Patavian Lewis. All have had important tenures with P-Funk over the last 45 years, in addition to uncountable accolades on their own with their expansive music careers.

This special curated concert draws on P-Funk’s vast historical catalog, going all the way back 70 years, and continuing into the modern era. Bedrosian carefully picked the songs to be made into this special concert series. Truly, much of the scope of P-Funk’s overarching influence and design is summed up very well in this special curated show.
