Considered a modern renaissance woman, three-time Florida State alum Avis Berry is a talented singer, teacher in Leon County Schools, and librarian at FSU’s College of Music library. She has recorded with various artists, shared the stage with such greats as Dave Brubeck, Robert Shaw, the Berlin Radio Choir under the direction of Dr. Andre Thomas, various FSU ensembles, FSU jazz faculty, and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, music has taken her around the globe performing on every continent except Antartica and Australia. She continues to collaborate artistically with various local organizations such as her inaugural role as Nana Grace in Crossing Jordan with Young Actors Theater, her role in the recording and production of Voices: A Folk Opera written by Kathryn Belle Long and Michael Abraham, and as a singer and songwriter in her band Revival. She’ll be appearing at Word of South with Revival and also as part of the tribute to Nat and Cannonball Adderley.
